The Best Foil Shavers for Barbers in 2026: A Barber's Buying Guide

BaBylissPRO FXONE BlackFX double foil shaver

Updated October 2026 · Prices as of 5 October 2026

The foil shaver is the last tool that touches a fade. It decides whether a skin fade looks clean or leaves a shadow, and whether a head shave sends the client out smooth or with razor bumps by tomorrow.

This month we added a new wave of foil shavers: the BaBylissPRO x Tomb45 wireless-charging shaver, the UVFOIL in matte black and the LO-PROFX Compact single foil. So we lined them up against the shavers barbers already buy from us and picked the best one for each kind of barber.

Every spec below comes from the product listing. Where a manufacturer does not publish a number, we say so instead of guessing.

Single foil vs double foil

This is the first decision, and it matters more than the brand.

Double foil

  • Two foils cover more skin on every pass
  • Faster on full head shaves and bald fades
  • Usually a wider head, so less nimble around ears

Pick it if: you do a lot of head shaves and want speed.

Single foil

  • One narrow foil puts the contact exactly where you aim it
  • Easier control on hairlines, temples and beard lines
  • Slower on a full head

Pick it if: detail work matters more than coverage, or you want a second finisher.

The 8 best foil shavers for barbers in 2026

#1 Best Overall
BaBylissPRO COREFX Double-Foil Shaver

BaBylissPRO COREFX Double-Foil Shaver

$109.99

Best for: Barbers who want one shaver that handles bald fades, necklines and full head shaves

At $109.99, COREFX costs close to half what the premium double foils on this list cost, and it still has titanium foils, a 9,000 RPM motor and USB-C. The offset double-foil head works as a double foil for speed on a full head, or tilted as a single foil when you are detailing around the ears. A built-in blade between the foils catches longer hairs the foils miss, so you are not doing a second pass on stubble.

  • 9,000 RPM high-speed motor
  • Hypoallergenic titanium foils
  • Offset double foil, usable as a single foil
  • 1.5 hours cordless runtime
  • USB-C charging
  • Non-slip metal grip

Watch out for: 1.5 hours of runtime is shorter than some picks below. Keep it on the charger between clients on a heavy day.

#2 Best Premium Double Foil
BaBylissPRO FXONE BlackFX Double Foil Shaver

BaBylissPRO FXONE BlackFX Double Foil Shaver

$194.95

Best for: Barbers already running the BlackFX or FXONE clipper and trimmer

The FXONE BlackFX is the finishing tool built to sit next to the rest of the BlackFX line. It uses the same double-foil approach as the classic BaBylissPRO shavers in an all-black FXONE body, so your whole station matches and every tool feels familiar in the hand.

  • Double-foil system
  • Lithium-ion cordless power
  • All-black FXONE finish
  • Built for necklines, outlines and head shaves

Watch out for: It costs about $85 more than COREFX. Buy it for the FXONE system and the finish, not for a closer shave.

#3 Best Wireless Charging New
BaBylissPRO x Tomb45 Wireless-Charging Double-Foil Shaver (FXT45FS)

BaBylissPRO x Tomb45 Wireless-Charging Double-Foil Shaver (FXT45FS)

$229.99

Best for: Barbers with a Tomb45 wireless clipper and trimmer who want the full cord-free setup

New this month. Drop it on a wireless charging pad, including Tomb45 PowerClip-compatible mats, and it is charged when the next client sits down. No cords across the station, no hunting for a cable. It completes the Tomb45 lineup next to the FXT45C clipper and FXT45T trimmer.

  • Wireless charging on Tomb45 PowerClip-compatible pads
  • USB charging also supported
  • Hypoallergenic double-foil system
  • Dual cutters for a fast, close finish

Watch out for: The wireless feature needs a charging pad. Without one, you are paying extra for a standard cordless shaver.

#4 Best Single Foil + UV Hygiene New
BaBylissPRO UVFOIL Matte Black UV Single-Foil Shaver (FXLFS1MB)

BaBylissPRO UVFOIL Matte Black UV Single-Foil Shaver (FXLFS1MB)

$119.99

Best for: Detail work around the hairline, and shops that want visible hygiene between clients

A single foil puts all the contact on one narrow strip, which makes it easier to control around the ears, the temple and a sharp beard line. The UVFOIL adds built-in UV disinfecting that helps sanitize the foil between clients, something your clients notice.

  • Built-in UV disinfecting
  • Hypoallergenic single foil
  • All-metal matte black housing
  • Cordless lithium-ion power

Watch out for: One foil covers less skin per pass, so a full head shave takes longer than with a double foil.

Also in gold ($125.32), or the UV double foil ($185.00).

#5 Best Compact New
BaBylissPRO LO-PROFX Compact Single-Foil Shaver

BaBylissPRO LO-PROFX Compact Single-Foil Shaver

$94.99

Best for: A second finisher for tight spots, travel kits and mobile barbers

New this month. The slim, low-profile head reaches behind the ears and into the hairline corners that bulkier shavers miss. It matches the rest of the LO-PROFX Compact series, so it pairs well with the compact clipper and trimmer if you work out of a bag.

  • Slim, low-profile single-foil head
  • Hypoallergenic foil for sensitive skin
  • Compact anodized housing
  • USB-C charging

Watch out for: Built for precision, not speed. Use a double foil for full head shaves and this one for the detail.

Comes in black or limited edition red.

#6 Best for Sensitive Skin
Andis ProFoil Plus II Shaver

Andis ProFoil Plus II Shaver

$99.99

Best for: Clients who get razor burn, and barbers who want a non-BaByliss option

The ProFoil Plus II uses hypoallergenic gold-titanium foils that glide close without the burn, and Andis builds it as a go-to for bald fades and daily head shaves. Snap-on foils make swaps quick, and a magnetic cap protects the foil in your bag.

  • 9,000 SPM rotary motor
  • Hypoallergenic gold-titanium foils
  • 80 minutes cordless runtime
  • USB-C charging
  • Snap-on foil and cutter, magnetic cap

Watch out for: 80 minutes is the shortest runtime listed here. Fine for finishing, tight for a full day of head shaves.

#7 Best Budget
JRL Onyx Pro Shaver SH2301

JRL Onyx Pro Shaver SH2301

$74.99

Best for: Barbers starting out, or anyone who wants long runtime for the money

The lowest price of our eight picks, and tied for the longest listed runtime. JRL's magnetic levitation system suspends the blades instead of mounting them on a physical support, which JRL says gives a smoother, quieter cut with less pressure on the skin. It runs corded or cordless.

  • 8,000 RPM motor
  • 3 hours runtime on a 2-hour charge
  • Magnetic levitation blade system
  • Ultra-thin foil
  • LED battery display, corded or cordless
  • Dual voltage

Watch out for: Magnetic levitation is a newer design than the classic foil setup, so there is less long-term barber feedback on it.

#8 Best Finishing Set New
BaBylissPRO BlackFX All-Metal Trimmer & Double-Foil Shaver Combo (FXTSMBPK)

BaBylissPRO BlackFX All-Metal Trimmer & Double-Foil Shaver Combo (FXTSMBPK)

$249.99

Best for: Barbers who need a new trimmer and a new shaver at the same time

New this month. The shaver in this set has the highest listed motor speed in this guide: 9,500 RPM with black titanium offset double foils and dual counter-cutting blades. You also get the all-metal BlackFX trimmer with a Black Graphite deep-tooth T-blade for line-ups.

  • Shaver: 9,500 RPM, up to 3 hours runtime
  • Shaver: hypoallergenic black titanium offset double foils
  • Trimmer: N1 brushless motor, 7,200 RPM, up to 4 hours
  • Trimmer: zero-gap adjustable T-blade, USB-C

Watch out for: Only worth it if you also need the trimmer. If you only need a shaver, COREFX or the FXONE BlackFX costs less.

How to choose a foil shaver

Foil count

Double foil for coverage and speed, single foil for control. If you can only buy one, an offset double foil like COREFX can do both.

Foil material

Titanium and hypoallergenic foils, like on COREFX, the Andis ProFoil Plus II and the BlackFX shaver, are kinder to clients who get razor bumps or burn.

Runtime

Listed runtimes in this guide range from 80 minutes (Andis) to 3 hours (JRL Onyx Pro, BlackFX shaver). For a full day of head shaves, pick longer runtime or keep the shaver on its charger between clients.

Charging

USB-C means one cable for everything at your station. Wireless charging, on the Tomb45 shaver, removes the cable entirely if you already use a charging pad.

Hygiene

UV disinfecting on the UVFOIL models helps sanitize the foil between clients. Whatever you buy, clean and disinfect the head after every client.

Matching your setup

If your clipper and trimmer are BaBylissPRO FXONE, Tomb45, LO-PROFX or COREFX, the matching shaver keeps the grip, weight and look consistent across your station.

Foil shaver FAQ

Single foil or double foil: which is better for barbers?

Neither is better across the board. A double foil covers more skin per pass, so it is faster on full head shaves and bald fades. A single foil gives you more control on small areas like the hairline, around the ears and beard lines. Many barbers keep one of each: a double foil for coverage and a single or compact foil for detail.

Is BaBylissPRO a good brand for foil shavers?

BaBylissPRO has the widest foil shaver range we carry, from the $94.99 LO-PROFX Compact to the $229.99 Tomb45 wireless model. That range is the advantage: you can match the shaver to the clipper and trimmer you already use, and foils and cutters are easy to find.

Do barbers need a foil shaver?

If you cut fades, a foil shaver is how you take the bottom of a skin fade or bald fade to a clean finish without a straight razor. It is faster than a razor for daily head shaves, and there is no blade change or lather between clients.

What are the downsides of a foil shaver?

Foils and cutters wear out and need replacing, and a worn foil pulls and irritates. Foil shavers also do not cut long hair, so you need to take the area down with a clipper or trimmer first. Pressing hard does not help: let the foil glide and keep it clean.

How often should I replace the foil and cutter?

It depends on how many shaves you do. Replace them when the shaver starts pulling, missing hairs, or running hot on the skin. In a busy shop that comes around sooner than at home, so it is worth keeping a spare foil and cutter at your station.
